IPGATE AG Launches Licensing Program in China

IPGATE AG, the Swiss-based owner of an extensive intellectual property portfolio in integrated braking systems, vehicle electrification, and electric drives, today announces the formal launch of its China Licensing Program. Following a successful first engagement with Chinese industry stakeholders in March 2026, IPGATE is now making its patented technologies formally accessible to automotive manufacturers and suppliers operating in China under clearly defined, fair, and competitive licensing terms.

China is today the world's largest automotive market and a driving force behind the global transition to electromobility. IPGATE holds over 400 granted and pending patents covering technologies that are fundamental to modern braking systems, including electro-hydraulic braking, regenerative braking integration, ePedal systems, and chassis control solutions essential to next-generation vehicles.

IPGATE's March 2026 visit to China marked a significant first step in building direct relationships with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers in the region. Chinese-language website and documentation: IPGATE's website and all key materials are fully available in Mandarin, ensuring that potential partners can engage with full clarity.

FRAND-inspired licensing principles: License terms are modelled on Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) principles, ensuring equitable access for all qualifying partners.

Draft license agreements available upfront: Prospective licensees have access to draft agreements and full patent lists prior to any commitment, enabling informed decision-making from the outset.

Industry-benchmarked rates: License rates have been defined in reference to industry standards and validated in dialogue with market leaders, ensuring competitive and justifiable conditions.

IPGATE offers two distinct rate categories for the Chinese market:

Domestic Rate, applicable to vehicles manufactured and sold within China: 0.5% of net sales with a minimum of CHF 0.75 per unit for domestic use.

International / Export Rate, applicable to vehicles exported to international markets, including Europe: 5% of net sales with a minimum of CHF 5 per unit for export to Europe and other markets.
