IPGATE AG has filed suit before the Munich Regional Court (Landgericht München I) against Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH and Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH, both based in Offenbach am Main, Germany, based on the German portion of European patent EP 3 145 771 B1. The patent covers an actuation system for a vehicle brake and a method for operating it.
The defendants sell vehicles in Germany with braking systems that, from the point of view of IPGATE, use this patented technology. IPGATE has been offering Hyundai Mobis a license since September 2021. To date, Hyundai Mobis has failed to enter into one.
Manufacturers and suppliers who license IPGATE's technology carry the cost of the innovation on which modern braking systems are built. Companies that use it without a license gain an advantage at their expense.
IPGATE is represented in the proceedings by Peterreins Schley Patent- und Rechtsanwälte, Munich.
